The Heart of Us - Kennedy Fox

The Heart of Us - Kennedy Fox

I received a copy of The Heart of Us in exchange of an honest review.

Easton is interested in Tatum from the moment she stepped inside his surf shop and asked for a job but due to her recent break up from her abusive husband, Tatum isn’t in the right headspace to date someone. Especially someone who is a bit younger than her. But when her ex-husband shows up unexpectedly and burns Easton’s shop down, both of them are forced to spent the unforeseeable future together in Easton parent’s beach house.  Are they able to stay just friends or does the forced proximity alight new sparks?

After reading The End of Us, I was so, so excited for Eastons book! I loved him from the very first second and enjoyed ever scene he had so him getting a whole book was amazing! He is caring and funny and a really good guy but as much as I loved Easton I couldn’t really bring myself to like Tatum. She was a very difficult character for me. She was a bit insecure due to her husbands abusive behaviour, which was totally understandable and I think the authors did an amazing job by showing this and also her development.

I did not feel any chemistry between them and I had the feeling they just don’t really fit together which made me sad because I like Kennedy Fox so much and I’m usually a big fan of the books and the couples but Easton and Tatum just wasn’t it for me.

All in all I was a bit disappointed. I really liked the idea of the plot and since I liked Easton so much in the book before I thought this would be one of my favourites but, sadly, turned out it wasn’t.

But I’m going to give this book 3,5 stars because I liked the idea and Easton was a great character and the writing was as good as always. I really hope that I’m going to like the next book more and I’m already excited for this one.
